A minimum IP rating is required for outdoor applications. The IP rating indicates how moisture and dust resistant the fixture is. A fixture with IP65 is a fully waterproof fixture. When installing spotlights in a damp room, such as a bathroom, where the fixture is not in direct contact with running water, a lower IP rating may be sufficient. So depending on the application, a certain IP value is important. It is therefore necessary when purchasing a floor recessed fixture to always consider where the fixture will be used.
