Workshop lighting

Wherever work is done, it is important to provide good lighting so that employees can perform optimally and make as few mistakes as possible. In addition, guidelines for lighting in the workplace have been established from the Government. Good lighting is an indispensable component in the workshop.

Benefits of LED lighting for the workshop

There are several advantages to installing LED lighting in the workplace. We’d like to highlight a few for you….

  • LED lighting is durable which means you save on your energy bill every month.
  • LED lighting, if desired, can emit a lot of light, making it suitable for high ceilings in workshops.
  • LED lights last longer, saving you replacement costs in the long run.
  • With LED lighting from Britelight, you won’t have any flicker in the workplace.
  • The right LED lighting has a positive effect on the employee working in the workshop, making them less likely to make mistakes and more cheerful through the day, as well as less likely to experience headaches and fatigue.

Workshop lighting for all conditions

A workshop is not always the most atmospheric space, nor does it always manage to let (enough) daylight shine through. Each season then also varies how much sunlight comes in. You also have to deal with different types of rooms, such as the room where there is a lot of moisture in the air, sawdust flying around or the room with a gigantic high ceiling. Workshop lighting is there for all conditions.

Workshop lighting must meet certain guidelines. You can read them on the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment website here.

Tips from Britelight for workshop lighting

Because there’s a lot to think about when installing workshop lighting, we’d like to give a few tips in advance …

  1. There are different types of light levels. Depending on the work you perform within your company, the light level is determined. It is important that work can be done accurately, and some operations require brighter light than others.
  2. The safety of employees is always paramount. Avoid shadows and dark spots by hanging too bright a light or forgetting to illuminate certain corners.
  3. Also consider actual work such as driving large forklifts. Could it be that the forklift is casting a large shadow in certain light, causing the employee on this forklift to have less visibility and possibly make mistakes?
  4. In fact, as long as no one is working in the workshop, the lights need not be on. By running the lights on sensor or setting them with a timer, you can turn them off in between. That way you save on energy bills and are more economical for the environment!
  5. Adhere to the guidelines established within the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
